About Us Page
For years, Jeanne and Tim McKenna both worked day jobs along with their animal husbandry.  Jeanne was the Director of Community Relations with the Green Bay Packers before resigning in May of 2002 in order to work full time with her horses. Tim is a local businessman in Green Bay.

Jeanne started her passion with horses as a 9-year-old child. She started out infatuated with the competition of the local horse show circuit and eventually her zeal brought her into breeding quarter horses. While college and motherhood took her away from horses for awhile, her enthusiasm for them never left her.

Wapiti Meadows
Tim is 2 generations removed from farming but still has great memories of spending summers down in southern Wisconsin at his grandparents farm riding the old bay "Candy". Since the 4th grade Tim had told his parents that "someday I am going to farm".
In 1990, the McKenna's had together decided to fulfill their dream and purchased 85 acres of farm land outside of Green Bay. They named it Wapiti Meadows. Wapiti, being a Native American name for elk. There they began their ranching operation. Since then their land has held Texas Longhorn cattle, buffalo, various breeds of horses and both Roosevelt and Rocky Mountain elk.

One quick look at the ranch and it is obvious that Jeanne and Tim hold a real fondness for the west. If you could put mountains around their place, you would think you were right smack dab in the middle of Montana. The animals they keep further define their love of the west.

Elk in dairyland
The majestic elk whose bugle is as wild to the mountain states as the loon call is to the northern Wisconsin lakes. The curly horse, originally found in the wilds of Nevada. While the beautiful countryside of Wisconsin is scattered with Holstein cows and quarter horses, Wapiti Meadows is a love affair between the McKenna's, their animals and the west.
